Jeff is currently scoring the third season of “The Devil You Know,” for Make Believe Media Productions. “The Devil You Know” is a true crime documentary series offering a unique glimpse into the double lives and secret betrayals by people whose most intimate friends and family lived in ignorance of their deadly identities. Season three premieres Wednesday, June 15 at 10pm (EST). The first two seasons are currently airing Thursdays at 3:00 pm (PST)/6:00 pm (EST) on OWN Canada.

The score soundtrack to the sci-fi thrilled ‘Maxwell’s Demon‘ is now available on iTunes.

‘Maxwell’s Demon’ is an experimental narrative film that recasts the Oedipus Myth as a film noir movie with a sci-fi time travel twist. As well as being a homage to the hard boiled detective movies of the 1940’s, this film also quotes scenes from nine famous ‘Oedipal’ films from the history of cinema including ‘The Crazy Ray’, ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, ‘Last Year at Marienbad’, ‘La Jetée’, and ‘Fellini’s 8 1/2′. The film was shot on a low budget in Calgary, Alberta and features a full big band score by Jeff Toyne.

Last Sunday during the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ 59th Golden Reel Awards, Jeff’s music editor Michael T. Ryan won the Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing:Long Form Music Television for Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story which premiered on Lifetime Television.  See the entire list of winners in The Hollywood Reporter.

Jeff has recently finished scoring the upcoming indie feature Abel’s Field starring Kevin Sorbo.  Additionally for the film, he collaborated with singer/songwriter Miriam Jones on an original song.  “Miriam has a voice that has been compared to that of Patti Smith, Norah Jones and Alanis Morissette.” (source)

On Monday, January 16th Jeff Toyne will give a Q&A alongside Melissa Manchester, Mary Steenburgen and Abe Sylvia after a special screening of Dirty Girl for the SCL (Society of Composers and Lyricists).  The screening will take place at the L.A. Film School in Hollywood starting at 8:00pm.  RSVP’s must be made through the SCL.

The National, Chris Cornell, Melissa Manchester and Mary J. Blige are among the acts shortlisted for the original song Oscar. Thirty-nine tunes were selected in all, and now move on to the next elimination round.

The National’s “Think You Can Wait” appeared in the Tom McCarthy drama Win-Win; Cornell’s “The Keeper” was featured in Machine Gun Preacher; Manchester’s “Rainbird” took flight in indie Dirty Girl; and Blige’s “The Living Proof” was heard in The Help.
